In July 2022, Eagle Shoreline Protection joined many other community leaders on all things shoreline restoration, including Michigan Tech, EGLE (state of Michigan), Western U.P. Planning & Development Region (WUPPDR), and the Keweenaw Land Trust.
Hosted by WUPPDR at the Marsin Nature Retreat in Houghton, coastal landowners, caretakers, and community members were invited to "learn how to care for [their] shorelines and prevent erosion using native plants and other methods."
"The workshop focused on maintaining healthy shorelines, strategies to protect coastlines, native plants and shoreline restoration," and covered topics such as the benefits of native plants and how to select, seed, and prep a site; how healthy shorelines make good habitat; strategies to protect coastlines; and ended the event with a coastal hazard Q&A.
We were happy to attend and present at this free, local event. Eagle Shoreline Protection was represented by our founder, Stephanie, who spoke about nearshore restoration using native plants. Thank you to the hosts, sponsors, other speakers, and attendees for this opportunity!
